The Broken Places

The Broken Places is a piece for percussion trio in response to a traumatic life event

that effected a large group of people. It explores the experience of how a group of

people deal with a traumatic event. In the first movement, titled "Separate" explores

the phenomenon of multiple people being together, yet experiencing different

emotions and thoughts at completely different times. The second movement,

"Alone", delves into the feeling of dealing with these events in solitude. The third

movement, "Together", attempts to demonstrate the potential of that group of

people when allowing themselves to experience the same emotions together.

The Broken Places was written for and originally premiered by 3G Percussion for

the Space City New Music Festival.
